• Walka Water Works

It was the kind of Springy Autumn day today that was just crying out to be turned into a picnic.  D suggested it, and Eden seemed to be on board.  She requested (in a goo-gar kind of way) that we both wear our gingham dresses, and so we did

We headed to a little spot nearby that D and I love, Walka Water Works.  It's nothing extraordinary really, but there is just something about it. For me it's the streets you drive along on the way there.  It is only a few streets from the heart of Maitland, but those few streets are pretty special.  Long straight stretches of narrow country roads, the odd house here and there, a farm animal or two, the token neglected citrus tree - and then you're there.  A little park in the middle of nowhere.

Eden enjoyed taking in the world around her, the sound of other children playing, and watching the filtered light flicker from under the almost dormant Jacaranda trees.  And D and I enjoyed our first picnic lunch since Eden's arrival, followed by a cup of tea and a walk...
