• Winter Holidays

A coastal holiday town such as Port Stephens seems an odd choice for this time of the year, but I've always been a bit of an all weather beach lover.  Regardless of whether the temperature is high enough to enjoy being in the water, I love being near it.  I love sinking my toes into the sand, having some good ol' barefoot contact with the earth, and soaking up some sun.

Visiting in the off season has the added benefit of not having to share the space with so many holiday goers.  Parking is a breeze, dinner reservations aren't as hit and miss and you pretty much own the beach.

Among the highlights were walking to the summit of Mt Tomaree and the beautifully rewarding view from the top.  Dinner at The Point which is nicely tucked away from the more popular Nelson and Shoal Bay cafes and restaurants.  Daily walks along Fingal Bay, and the weather - it felt like a little slice of spring in the midst of winter!  And, as Port Stephens is located just under an hour drive from home, we returned feeling so super relaxed and refreshed.  A true holiday in every sense.  Sand, sun, scrumptious meals, scenic accommodation and seriously good company.
