Our broad bean patch is a-buzz today with busy little bees doing their pollinating thing - and I'm a-buzz with excitement that our first broad bean attempt has been such a success.
We planted a little 1.5m x 1.5m bed of these some weeks ago and I'm pretty impressed with how well they've grown, and how unphased they've been by our harsh frosts. I'm also impressed by how aesthetic the flowers are, for such a practical plant they really do make an effort to also be pleasing on the eye.
I'm not sure how long it takes for these flowers to turn into food, but I'm eagerly awaiting my first sample of home grown, organic, fresh-as-fresh-can-be broad beans!
