• Sparkling Silverware

At the bottom of my too hard basket sits a pile of silverware purchased by my garage sale savvy Mum many years ago.  She passed it on to me and although I love it, I never use it, because removing the tarnish has always seemed like a time consuming process that would involve lots of nasty chemicals and way too much elbow grease.

I've recently been pouring over various ‘Simple Living’ books to reeducate myself on new environmentally friendly and healthy ways to clean, garden and cook, and amongst the pages of one of the books I found what seemed to be a too-good-to-be-true process for removing tarnish from silver which involves NO nasty chemicals and NO elbow grease (Praise the Lord!).  Here are some before and after pictures of the results, and below the simple steps you need to take to get them…

The process is easy...

Ingredients:

Aluminium Foil
Salt
Baking Soda

Method:

Line your clean kitchen sink with aluminium foil and space your silverware over the top in a single layer.

Cover with boiling water until all the silverware is submerged.

Sprinkle in 1TBS of salt and 1TBS of baking soda.

Leave for 10 minutes then rinse and dry.
